Movie: Silent Hill

As far as modern horror movies go, I give this one a 7.5 out of 10. Definately worth the $$$ if you like gorey movies.

The thing that most impressed me about this movie was the music. Most of the mixes were taken from actual tracks from the games that the movie is based on. It was pretty bad@$$. I will definately be buying the soundtrack.

In Wicke's words, "It created good atmosphere". I really couldn't describe it better. It's one WTF-moment after another.

I do NOT recommend this movie if you don't like the whole blood-n-gore thing. Otherwise, check it out. You won't be disappointed!

I thought the transitions back and forth from abandoned, burned out town to hellish industrial factory with creatures coming to life was done very well. Fans of the game will enjoy it but most others might be confused, even after the demon gives a lengthy exposition explaining the situation which is a popular but largely weak film technique.

One thing that I really hate in life are people who will gladly offer ANONYMOUS scathing criticism of other people's public commentary but, at the same time, refuse to give any of their own. I would argue that such public-defacement is the sign of a weak mind.

Hmmm... hard to argue against someone named Anonymous. I kind of know how Polyphemus felt now.

In any case, back to explaning what I meant. In Silent Hill, the demon outright gives a 15 minute long explanation of what happened directly to the main character. In a counter-example, V for Vendetta does something similar but also does it much better. Take the scene where the character Evey is imprisoned. We learned the reasoning behind V's intentions through a series of flashbacks through the eyes of a third character. V doesn't outright tell you the reason, he shows you by taking Evey through the process. This is much more effective than just giving narration as done in Silent Hill.

Anonymous, if you liked Silent Hill, that's fine, it was entertaining. If you didn't, that's fine too, it's not an Oscar contender. I'm sorry that I caused you such grief that you had to insult not only me but my family. It wasn't my intention.

Oh and Jason, "definitely" not "definately" ;P

it's one "WTF" moment after another?

That's funny because you are one of the only people I know that actually says "WTF" in actual conversation. Do you also say "LOL" and "ROTFLMAO"?

If Mr. Anonymous could chill with the foul language, it'd be appreciated.
